Finca Juan Martin is a forward-thinking and experimental coffee farm managed by Banexport. The project is dedicated to cultivating, harvesting, and processing multiple coffee varieties to refine each step toward achieving optimum quality. In addition, Juan Martin functions as a mentor and model for coffee producers who sell and export their beans through Banexport. The farm is located in the highest part of Sotara, only 30 minutes from Popayan, the capital of Cauca. It remains committed to adopting environmentally sustainable methods and providing employment opportunities coupled with educational benefits for local community members.
At Juan Martín Farm, several upkeep activities are performed. Soil conservation is a priority due to the farm's steep terrain, and natural undergrowth is maintained to minimize erosion. Coffee crops are regularly examined to detect and remove pests or diseases. Moreover, the trees are cleaned every 75 days, and the areas between rows are cleared with a scythe every two months.
